Shouldnt be a problem at all. The PROM in a hondata unit should be a walk in the park to copy. as to whether that is the only difference between the units or not i don't know.

piracy and the hacking communities are the ones that CREATE improved security methods, push the government to allow higher levels of encryption etc etc. They're not a bad lot. Besides, many products would never achieve the public awareness and acceptance that they have if their programs werent so readily available for "evaluation". Take Photoshop for example. Most of us grew up on photoshop as kids, pirating it where we could. Now we know how to use it, and like it. So we go buy it instead of even looking around at alternatives.

I worked for a software company for a while. They're as stupid as the music industry.

Corporation like Microsoft with loads of cash to burn and endless source of genious programmers, if this was an easy solution, they would have done it by now already. Even with DTV, they have complete control of the data stream, yet people still come up with ways to aux. their access card with softwares like emulator, reprogram the microchip, design HW like bootloaders.. etc. Think of it as ways to make a virus. You can try to deter it, there is no absolute way to stop it....except with an human character and conscience.

I understand that it is totally possible to do...as a matter of fact, I have access to machines that extract wares from ROM and can duplicate them. However I urge that people would not do this...we have limited people who devoted their entire time to come up with ways to improve our hobbies...And as with everyone else, they have wives and kids to feed. If you pirate their income, they can't feed their family and will move elsewhere...which will leave you high and dry in the end.

Err, Office XP does this today. It was a bad idea by Microsoft to try it. Yes, it was cracked weeks before it was even officially released. No different than any other crack.

Do the stage 2 and stage 3 (or 4) actually have different PCB designs? That's a lot of money I can't believe you'd spend.
